Some people have been kind enough to send
feedback after clinics. Here's a sampling:
Charleston Weekend Students
Thanks for a wonderful weekend! I really enjoyed it and learned a
lot. Francis had a great time - he enjoyed the action much more than the
smooth water trips we have been on.
I'm only sorry I put you through your 'paces' and tested your rescue
skills. You came through with flying colors!!! All your hard work to
learn all that really paid off! THANK YOU. And I am fine today, just a
little tired, as I imagine you are also. That must have been about a
stressful for you as for me. I admire you for staying calm and in
control - and keeping me calm. I hope you don't have permanent finger
imprints on your shoulders! You done good!
Again, heartfelt thanks, Jean
(This lady enjoyed an epic swim through the surf, which
precipitated an asthma attack. She was back in the boat 15 minutes
later!)

Thanks for the great weekend in Charleston. That was a beautiful weekend to do the clinic. Thanks for the paddle advice. I am now fully equipped once more.
---
Had an awesome time on the water this weekend. Turns out moving a kayak through the water is a wee bit more complicated than just getting the paddle wet. Looking forward to doing this again some time.
---
TESTIMONIAL: Folks, take it from someone who has been there and avail yourselves of the opportunity to take Steve's course. It is excellent!
---
I (and Karen) just want to say how great this weekend was. It was
great meeting everybody and it was loads of fun learning from Steve.
Someone, somewhere said that people who are drawn to this kind of sport
are the kind of people you want to spend time with. Amen, brother or
sister - whoever said it. I can't keep track of everyone who assisted
me and Karen getting back in the boats after a swim or two, but thanks.
Steve's first day of instruction in calm water gave everyone the
confidence to play in the chop the second day. This class gave me a
solid base in safety and skills that I can build on for quite a while.
If you've ever given a thought to getting some solid instruction or even
brushing up your skills, you can't go wrong with this class

My body is a virtual Joseph's coat of many colors. There are bruises
on top of bruises and I won't complain about any of them. I enjoyed the
sea kayaking and consider the bruises a part of the learning experience.
Thank you for your patient instruction and handling of so many diverse
personalities. It was great fun and, I hope, something I will do again.
(This lady was 66 years old. It took me half an hour to get her to
stop surfing her kayak and come in for the day.)

I had a blast and you are an excellent instructor. I really appreciated your kindness and patience. I know for sure the clinic will alway be an enjoyable milestone on my journey to become a better paddler. I really can't say thank you enough for the time durimg the clinic. I went into the class expecting to become more proficient with my strokes and picking up on some rescue skills. We did cover that and more. I actually became more comfortable in the cockpit and I was able to feel what these boats were designed for.
---
I had a really great time. Can't wait [for] the ocean part next year. In addition to your great instructions, the dolphins, and all of Haynes' info on the marshes added to my trip. It was a very special time for Christy and I. You and Meg make a great team. Let's do it again.
---
When the students do well, we always say that it reflects on the excellence of the instruction, when they don't do well, we blame it on early childhood trauma:-). It was a lot of fun and a really great intro to butt boating for me [Can you tell he's a canoeist?]. Thanks again for the weekend.

Safety and Rescue Clinics
Thank you Steve!!!!
I would characterize yesterday's rescue clinic as a rousing success!!
It's true folks. Training/skill enhancement and the resulting
confidence directly links to more fun!
---
How much fun can fifteen people have on a rainy Saturday? Thanks for another GREAT clinic, Steve. I enjoyed seeing old friends and meeting new ones. Let's get wet again soon.
---
I had such a good time at the rescue class last weekend. I admit to a few sore muscles and a bruise or two, but I feel much better about my self-preservation skills.
---
Steve and Meg,
You were an awsome pair of teachers. I learned lots of helpful hints
and met some more good folks. The experience was good and I must make
mention of the delicious buffet at lunch.
Tom, you are right on about the "wiped out". I needed drugs to get me
through Sunday. After yoga tonight, I'm feeling much better but, boy
did we get a workout. Thanks Steve and Meg for your generous
contribution to safe kayaking.

Many thanks to Steve for a very informative and fun clinic. And he does this [rescue clinic] for the pure love of the sport as well as his interest in the safety of paddlers. ALL monies went to charities of the participants' choice. Steve received only the satisfaction of helping others. Thanks for your time and expertise, Steve.
---
This course is a real confidence-builder. Thanks again, Steve!
---
Steve - thanks for giving up your Saturday for us to learn (or refresh) our re-entry skills. It was great and I'm going to plan on doing this every year. I did learn quite a bit. I also learned I have a lot of muscles I haven't been exercising enough :)
---
Although I was far from your best student Saturday, it was very, very helpful and I learned a lot - I'm wearing the bruises to show it. Thanks so much for making these classes available. You and your helpers are great (and patient) teachers.
---
Thanks for a great clinic!! I learned a lot and also learned that I need more practice. With your methods I could probably learn to roll. Maybe next time--or the one after that. I do like the way you organized the course.
---
I just wanted to thank you for a great class yesterday. I learned so much, and it reconfirmed that this is a sport that I want to actively pursue.

Skills Courses
Thank you again for your efforts this weekend. Small group teaching
by an inspired instructor is something many students only dream of, so
you are appreciated very much.
A happy paddler, Howard
---
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. I thoroughly enjoyed myself, and can't wait to get back in the water to work on my form.
---
Thanks for the sea kayak clinic. It was great--boosts my confidence [for] the Cumberland trip.
---
Steve, I really enjoyed the clinic on Saturday. It was very helpful and I really learned some things.
---
WOW! Thanks Steve! I needed that! I was doing my torso rotation at the end of my stroke instead of the beginning. I got to paddle a few miles Sunday with my new stroke. What a difference! The paddle is out of the water before my hip and my push hand isn't crossing the center line (much) and my stroke is quiet. Of course I can't get the boat to go straight yet, but what the heck... first things first. I am looking forward to more work on it. Thanks again.
---
Dianne and I just wanted to send a quick email thanking you again for your lessons today. We now have the confidence and basic skills to build on and enjoy our kayaks. We had two goals for the day, one was to learn how to be safe, the other was to have fun. We accomplished both. Please feel free to use us as references if anyone should ask. We look forward to paddling with you in the future.
---
Tom and I truly enjoyed our class with you. Today, I practiced my
salmon spears and shot putts and left the guys behind in my spray. Tom
demonstrated some of the new strokes and impressed the friends. We
practiced our rescue moves as well. It is fun to be able to put one's
boat exactly where you want it to go.

Thank you very much for taking the time to help me work on my roll -- you are a great teacher!
---
I had a wonderful and educational weekend. I would definitely recommend you
to any one looking to enter the sport. I will work on polishing all of the
skills you taught me this weekend and especially moving through pushy water
with my paddle in the water and not with my hands on gunwales. The next time
I see you maybe I will be surfing.

canoeist).
---
Thank you again for a great day of instruction on the Broad River. It
was really fun and I think I could learn to like being in a canoe some
of the time... if my knees let me. But it is a lot of work! Don and I
had great fun and you really made the day enjoyable.
(From WW
kayaker trying out tandem canoeing).
---
I really enjoyed yesterday and you are a very gifted teacher.
---
Really enjoyed the class, Steve. I have sore spots today from paddling correctly now. After all of these years I thought I knew what I was doing.
---
Just wanted to say thanks for a great class last weekend. I learned a lot and had a blast! I really didn't think I could make it over that last rapid, but I finally did! Thank you for your patience with me.
---
Thank you for a great experience this weekend. It was a thorough and wonderful introduction to the exciting sport of whitewater kayaking. Michelle was disappointed that it had to end.
