In this set of photos, I'm doing a paddlefloat self-rescue. The
water is about 20 feet deep here.
Here I'm rigging the stirrup
using a 12' loop of 1/4"
nylon rope. That's really
too short, I've decided.
The rope is looped over
the far paddle blade, then
under the boat and
wrapped twice around the
shaft.
Now I'm standing in the
loop with my left foot.
Notice that I'm not
holding the paddle at all.
And no, I'm not standing
on the bottom.
